And Then I Decided to Join the Circus...

...well minus the clowns and the elephants and fire and stuff.

I really meant to post this on Monday, but I got tired/lazy/distracted.  And I couldn't get the pictures to upload, and they're kind of important to this post.

AnyADD, on Friday I finally used my Living Social voucher and tried aerial acrobatics!  It was beyond fun! (Minus the fact that it took me an hour to get there-it should take half that-and the fact that Katie didn't make it due to aforementioned traffic.)

The instructors split us into groups and we got to try three stations: silks (like Cirque du Soleil style), the rope, and trapeze (not the flying kind (bummer)).  I had three middle-aged Jersey ladies in my group who were hilarious and also kind enough to take pictures for me.

Silks! We cheated a little-I'm standing on a knot.

Rope-a lot harder than the silks.  It was a nylon (maybe) rope, not a gym class rope.

Trapeze!  I liked this move because it stretched out my hips.
The ladies in my group insisted that I do the move in the last picture because they needed to see someone do it.  They were pretty awesome.  Overall, I'd DEFINITELY suggest this class to anyone who wants to try it.  I took it at the Philadelphia School of Circus Arts, but something like this could be offered at a gymnastics school or something.  Eventually, I might try to take one of the extended courses.  They're 6 or 8 weeks or something.  I'm so excited that I crossed this item off of my Life List!

PS
I still have rope burn on my foot.  Worth it.

January in Review (Sorta)

Oh wow look at that…I haven’t posted for like 3 weeks. I’m awesome. (Or lazy.)

January was pretty boring. There was a LOT of snow. And a lot of unnecessary driving in said snow since my office refused to be closed. Thanks, guys.

----

The new car hunt is on! One of my aunts is like a wolverine when it comes to negotiations, so I’ve recruited her into helping me. She’s great at research and all that fun stuff. I’m aiming for a Honda Civic, and I’ll get it before the end of March so I don’t have to pay for inspection and what not.

----

My yoga class got cancelled. Major sads. It might start up again later this year, but there are no guarantees. I was going to try a class at a studio last night but I couldn’t even touch my toes, my legs hurt so badly. I got a trainer at my gym and he doesn’t like to take it easy on me. After sitting for a few hours at my desk, I’d get up and it felt like someone was stabbing the back of my knees. People keep telling me that it’ll be worth it, but I don’t know how much I believe them. We’ll see.

----

I bought my plane ticket to go to Florida to see my mom over Mother's Day.  I want to make her brunch, but she's gone vegan which makes it decidedly more difficult.  I'll have to do some research.

----

There was an opening in our warehouse. My boss has decided to hire his creepy little look-alike. I may need to find a new job; I don’t think I can take both of them. Why he didn’t hire the attractive guy in the suit I will never understand.

I’ll try to stop being lazy and post more. I’m trying something new this week (something to cross off of my life list), so I’m excited to see how that goes. I’ll share next week!

Fall and Birthdays and Rants, Oh My!

The touch of fall we're having today is reminding me of everything I love about the change in the seasons.  One of my favorite things about each of the seasons is how it smells.  I love the smell of snow in the winter, the flowers in the spring, fresh cut grass in summer, and the smell of the leaves in the fall.  Yes, I can smell the difference when they're changing.

I get excited for the chance to wear boots and sweaters again.  And scarves!  They take the place of necklaces in the winter because my office is always freezing.  Usually I'll miss the beach, flip-flops, and the sun on my skin.  But this year (and I think it's pretty universal) I can't wait for it to cool off.

September's a big month.  My birthday is coming up.  I'm turing 25.  I don't think I'm wear I thought I'd be at 25, even though I don't really have a life plan.  My mom's visiting for the bday (mine and my brother's (his is the day before mine)).  I'm hoping 25 is a big year.  I really want to cross some stuff off my life list.  Like driving cross-country.  I've never been to Vegas or California, so I'd love to hit both those places on a road trip.

Also, the change in the seasons is remind me how badly I'm doing with my 2010 goals.  I really need to get on that stuff...

Also, I need to fit in this mini-rant:

I have been incredibly out of sorts the last few days. Yesterday, I went over to the mall to pick up new yoga pants ($15 at Old Navy), and went into Charlotte Russe to get a super cute owl necklace (I've been obsessed with the idea since Salt did her Hooty giveaway). Turns out I forgot my wallet. I have never forgotten my wallet in my adult life. So I had to leave my awesome parking spot (it was raining) and run home and grab my monies. Luckily I live all of 5 minutes from the mall. Then I get my necklace, get my yoga pants and run to the bank. I got home and took a shower and talked to Big Pappa (almost-doctor-guy) for a while. I got to remove the tags from my yoga pants and one pair was an extra small-on a medium hanger. So now I get to go back. UGH. On the bright side, they're ridiculously comfortable, and I'm excited to start yoga in a couple of weeks!

I'm Thinking About Running Away With the Circus...

I have a Life List.  It currently has about 30 items on it.  One of these items is to try aerial acrobatics. Which is this:

Imgine my surprise and delight when I open my e-mail yesterday and my daily deal from livingsocial.com is half off an introductory class at the Philadelphia School of Circus Arts.  I'm excited to be a step closer to crossing an item off of The List.  (Frankly, I will be surprised if I can hold myself up on the rope for any significant length of time.)

I quickly sent the link to my college biffle as we had been discussing trying this together.  I really could hardly contain my excitement.

Sidenote: the school also offers a stretching class.  I imagine this to be clowns doing yoga.  I apologize for that image, but I really just had to share it.
